NRDC-GR HQ status, organization and functional operation are described in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed between Greece and the contributing nations (ten as of the 2020 MoU) and in the Command and Control Technical Arrangement (C2TA) between Greece and SHAPE, as revised in 2018.

NRDC-GR as a High Readiness Force (HRF) HQ is capable of executing either (Article 5) Collective Defence Operations or (Non Article 5) Crisis Response Operations, deploying over strategic distances and having the sufficient means for at least a six-month sustainability. It is capable to Command and Control up to 5 combat formations (Corps size) and coordinate with Tactical Air and Maritime Ops.

Readiness: High/Category 5, deployment period up to 30 days.

NRDC-GR HQ as a High Readiness Force (Land) [HRF (L)] HQ is to be ready to rapidly deploy,

as Warfighting Corps HQ, NATO Response Force Land Component Command (NRF LCC), or Multi-Corps LCC for a Major Joint Operation-Plus (MJO+) and as Joint HQ for a Small Joint Operation (Land Heavy) [SJO (L)],

in order to conduct or sustain combined and Joint Land centric operations across the operational spectrum for Collective Defense (Articles 3 and 5 of the Washington Treaty) or Crisis Response Operations (Non-Article 5) in a designated Joint Operational Area.
