Lieutenant General (GRC A)
Lt Gen Anastasios A. SPANOS was born in Evia Island in 1964. He was admitted in the Hellenic Military Academy in 1982 and graduated in 1986 as an infantry officer.
As a Junior Officer he was assigned as Platoon Leader and Company Commander to various Infantry Battalions, as well as an instructor at the Hellenic Military Academy.
He has attended and graduated from all military schools.
In 2001 he attended the War College in Thessaloniki.
In 2002 he attended the Joint Staff Officers School in Athens.
As a middle officer he has served in 22nd National Guard Command in Lesvos Island and in 2003 he was assigned as Deputy Commander in 296th Infantry Battalion in Lesvos.
In 1996 he was assigned as Commander of the 37th A-T Company in Orestiada.
In 2005 he was assigned as Battalion Commander in the Officer Designate School in Crete and in 2006 he was assigned as Commander in 296th Mechanized Infantry Battalion in Lesvos.
He has served as staff officer in II Mech Inf Div, in Cyprus NGGS and in HAGS.
In 2011 he attended the National Defense College and in 2013 he was assigned as Chief of Staff in the 98th Higher National Guard Command in Lesvos Island.
In 2015 he was assigned in HAGS as Infantry Deputy Director.
In 2016 he was promoted as BDE General and was assigned as Commander of the 30th Mech Inf BDE in Dydimoteicho.
In 2018 he was assigned as Chief of Staff in C’ Army Corps in Thessaloniki.
In 2019 he was promoted as Mj Gen and was assigned as Deputy Commander in C’ Army Corps and in 2020 as Commander of the 98th Higher National Guard Command in Lesvos island.
In March 2021 he was promoted as Lt Gen and was assigned as Commander in C’ Army Corps/NRDC-GR in Thessaloniki.
He is Married with 2 children, Apostolos – Panagiotis Lawyer and Evdoksia – Maria Journalist.
