The Office of Legal Advisor of HQ NRDC-GR organized and conducted for the third succeeding year the Law of Armed Conflict Seminar 2016 under the title “Operationalizing the Law Of Armed Conflicts”, which was held at the premises of HQ NRDC-GR from 22nd to 25th November 2016. The event was co-organized with the Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Centre, based in Kilkis.

The aim/ main learning objective was to provide to the participants/attendees with a broad knowledge of a number of critical legal issues through a practical implementation of Law of Armed Conflict in the fields of Targeting, Use of Force, Rules of Engagement, Cyber-Attacks and Maritime law warfare. The objective set above was achieved through a series of academic lectures followed by case studies and mini exercises promoting syndicate work to deliver specific products.

Three universities, namely Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Democritus University of Thrace and European University Frankfurt were represented in this years’ Seminar while lectures were delivered by Legal Advisors coming from SHAPE, JFCBS, UK MOD, USEUCOM. The seminar was attended by NATO Command and Force Structure Legal Advisors as well as Legal Advisors to NATO Agencies and other serving in national/international posts at PfP, MD, ICI and Partner countries participated. Among the participants were also Legal Advisors from the Hellenic Armed Forces as well as Police Officers.

The Seminar achieved to create an interactive forum for all participants to share knowledge, exchange insights, as well as review and debate the new perspectives in the Law of Armed Conflicts.
