On February the 3rd and 4th 2021, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Greece (NRDC-GR) organized and conducted the “Deep Dive into MC LCC Ops” Seminar. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions the event was held via VTC, yet more than 40 Flag Officers from SHAPE, the NCS and the NFS HQs attended. On the first day, the Chief of Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS) General Konstantinos FLOROS welcomed the participants and congratulated the NRDC-GR personnel that made this event possible even under the pandemic restrictions. In his opening statement, he mentioned that the seminar will give the opportunity to discuss about future challenges and opportunities and to enhance the Alliance’s defence and deterrence posture. He also stated that he expects the outcome to be the first robust validated perspective of MC LCC functions and procedures with the intent to be used as “best practices”. Finally, he highlighted the Greek contribution to the Alliance even under harsh economic conditions.
Since January the 1st the HQ is assigned with the role of Multi Corps Land Component Command (MC LCC). The Seminar took place within this framework and its aim was to share the knowledge and the Lessons Identified during the experimentation/preparation period, in order to better understand the developments and the potential challenges for NATO at this level.
It comprised of two parts; the first one (Syndicates’ session) took place from 15 Dec 2020 to 25 Jan 2021, where registered participants had dynamic debates on the selected topics. The second part (the Syndicates’ back-brief session), was also the main venue of the event and the outcomes of the syndicates were presented to the Distinguished Participants for further discussion and conclusions.
