New Year Ceremony

On January the 12th 2021, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps - Greece (NRDC-GR) held a small ceremony for the New Year beginning, following the COVID19 protocols. Commander NRDC-GR, Lt General Dimitrios KOUKKOS, wished the personnel all the best for 2021 and also presented the ‘’Alexander the Great Award’’ to the 2020 winners. ‘’Alexander the Great Award’’ program is designed to recognize the superior performance, professional excellence and significant contribution of Staff Officers and Staff Assistants to the mission of NRDC-GR.

   The event concluded with the ‘’Vasilopita’’ cut.  Vasilopita is a New Year's Day cake in Greece which contains a hidden coin which gives good luck to the receiver, associated with Saint Basil's day, January 1.

    2021 is a milestone year for NRDC-GR. Since January the 1st the HQ is assigned with the role of Multi Corps Land Component Command (MC LCC). By the end of the year and after EX ‘’STEADFAST LEDA 21’’, NRDC-GR will reach Full Operational Capability (FOC) and will retain the role of MC LCC till the end of 2023.
