From June 7th to June 9th 2017, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece Headquarters (NRDC-GR HQ), hosted in its premises in Thessaloniki, Exercise Trident Jaguar 2018 (TRJR18), - Initial Planning Conference (IPC), conducted by Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) and directed by Joint Warfare Centre (JWC).
Commander NRDC GR HQ, Lieutenant General Dimitrios BIKOS, during his opening remarks welcomed all participants and highlighted the importance of exercise TRJR 18 for NRDC-GR. During his remarks he stated that “The IPC, to my opinion, is the most important event during the exercise planning process due to the fact it consist the basis of the planning of the exercise”.
The aim of the conference was to develop the Exercise Planning Guidance, the initial effort on the exercise plan (EXPLAN), the collaboration on the exercise scenario as well as to start syndicate work in all the relevant areas of expertise. The IPC started with a plenary session and split into different syndicates and sub- syndicates.
The event was attended by representatives from all participating in the exercise NATO Entities and Non-NATO entities (SHAPE, SACT, JWC, MARCOM, AIRCOM, MNJHQ ULM, FRA MAR FOR, DEU JFAC, ESP JFAC, NCIA, NCISG, JFCBS, MNC NE, 2NSB, BwCISOM, SEEBRIG), comprising the training audiences, HNs, designed supporting centers, entities and agencies that has been invited to attend the TRJR 18 IPC, by JFCBS.
IPC continues one of a series of events towards NRDC-GR Joint Evaluation in the year 2018 and an opportunity to bring together National and International staff from the wider NATO community. Through exercise TRJR 18, NRDC-GR will demonstrate its capacity to command Small Joint Operations Land Heavy and its readiness to undertake its role within the Alliance according the Long Term Rotation Plan.
