On May 20th 2019, the Italian Ambassador in Greece, HE Luigi Efisio MARRAS paid an official visit to NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Greece HQ, accompanied by the Italian Defense Attaché Colonel (ITA AF) Enrico FRASSON, the 1st Counsellor Mr. Alessandro FERRANTI and the Italian Honorary Consul in Thessaloniki, Mr. Christos SARANTOPOULOS.
After an official welcome ceremony the Italian Ambassador had an office call with the NRDC-GR Commander Lieutenant General Konstantinos KOUTRAS, followed by a briefing, regarding the structure, role and mission of the HQ as well as the challenges during the stand by period as a Joint Task Force (JTF) HQ and the upcoming ones as a Multi Corps (MC) Land Component Command (LCC) of NATO Long Term Commitments Plan (LTCP).
After the memorabilia exchange, the Italian Ambassador signed the HQ’s Guest book and a commemorative family photo in front of NRDC-GR HQ followed. The visit concluded with a speech delivered by the Ambassador to the Italian Armed Forces Personnel serving at the HQ. Such visits enhance the cooperation between NRDC-GR HQ and the Participating Nations.
