The HQ NDC-GR held its 8th annual plenary conference on the 12th December 2012.
All the Allied countries members of the HQ participated with their nominated representatives in the conference.
This year’s Plenary was of great importance since the framework nation (Greece) decided to upgrade the NDC-GR into a NATO Rapid Deployable Corps and to offer it as High Readiness HQ. In the light of this decision a number of posts, belonging both to the Peace Establishment (PE) and Crisis Establishment (CE) structure, were offered for bidding to nations.
Furthermore the aim of the conference, apart from the offered posts, was the approval of the reorganization of the HQ.
The conference began with the opening remarks from the chairman the COS of NDC-GR Major General Nikolaos Zachariadis, who welcomed the participants and analyzed the future role of NDC-GR.
Short briefings about HQ NDC-GR, it’s training plan and it’s budget were delivered by the respective Branches to the conference participants, followed by the offering of the available posts and the organizational changes.
All nations expressed unanimously their satisfaction congratulating the decision of the framework nation to upgrade the HQ into an NRDC HQ, as well as, their will to support this decision within their means and capabilities.Bulgaria, in particular, offered to cover the high visibility post of the Deputy Commander.
The conference concluded with a hosted lunch at the Officer’s Club where the participants had the opportunity to exchange opinions and ideas in a warm and friendly environment.
In conclusion the 8th Plenary Conference marked the beginning of a new era towards the NDC-GR evolution and its transformation to a High Readiness Forces HQ.
